Good news everyone...I am building a new bike and will share the experience with you. So here is the game plan. I am upgrading a cobia with nice, light parts, including disc brakes. I will take some parts from my paragon because it won't need them; it will be transformed into a single speed. I will share the single speed with Chris because that is the kind of person I am.
As you can see the first step is done. Chris tore down the cobia to just a frame. I will be taking it in to get a weight on it this week. It is the same frame that the X-cal and new paragon use also.
Let me get back to the plan which is to use sram twist shift and hydraulic disc brakes. We have been looking at catalogs to find parts. I have never ridden disc brakes before, so this should be a new experience. Then I also need a stem, seatpost--carbon because it is a hardtail, handlebars, the works. I am really excited and will keep you posted.
I was reminded again today how fragile and fleeting life is, so live life don't just watch it.
