Chris and I put in 6 plus hours on the bike today. Chris finally got his SS together and rocked it all day. It was primarily a mountain ride, but we had to jump on the road to get from trail to trail.
So we parked at the mouth of the canyon and headed south to the indian road trail head to jump on the bonneville shoreline trail. I had never ridden it this way before. It was really fun. We ended up on the path just below bridal veil falls.
We stayed on the path up to vivian park and then jumped on the road and headed up to Sundance. At Sundance we met up with Scott, Jared, and Jared's brother Dan. We did a quick small lap there but since they were hosting a running race, we decided we would come back and ride at the resort on the way back. Why someone would want to run at Sundance instead of riding a bike is beyond me.
We all hit the road and headed up to the timp trail head parking lot. Here we jumped on the trail and rode up to the top of the loop where we entered the ridge trail and took it down towards cascade springs. Descending was so smooth today; it was awesome. I am not sure if it is legal to have that much fun on a bike. We then took the trail back up to the top.
Just below where we cross the road, I attempted to shift into my small chain ring. When I did it seemed like it wasn't fully shifting. I kept looking down to see what was up with it. I then tried to shift back into my middle and it would not go. I stopped and looked more closely. Umm...three of the four bolts that hold my small chain ring on were MIA. I don't know how that happened. So I tightened the one bolt that remained and duct taped the small ring into place. I was going to ride a 1x9 for the rest of the day. (I shortened my chain and set my limits so I can't use my large chain ring. My intentions were to go 2x9, but 1x9 is a little over kill for me.) We then headed down the trail to Timp parking lot again, where we jumped on the road. Scott, Jared, and Dan packed up and went home. Chris and I rode a lap of the weekly course that goes around Archie's and Scott's pond. We then headed back down the canyon to the bike path. We rode the bonneville trail to end up the where we started. It was a great ride combination.
We had sent out an email to the Mad Dog team to see if they would like to join us, but from what I hear it was not very well accepted. They really missed out. It was more fun than I expected. I hope that Scott, Jared, and Dan enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the short section of the ridge line I rode with you all.
