If you could offer some tips about doing Leadville, what would they be? I am 57 and have dreamed (and trained for) Leadville for a few years now. I am going to submit for the lottery in 2010...
thank you KC

Baba:
I am no coach, but I can share what I felt really helped me. I would suggest early the season that your spring training should really focus on distance. Put in some long rides. While I am not a big fan of road riding, this is often easier on the road.
During the summer, when the mt bike season is in full swing do some cross country races. This will help get the high intensity training that you want. During this time, you probably do not want to as much long endurance. The most important thing is make sure you have done some rides that last as long as you anticipate being on the bike. Otherwise you risk running out of steam at the end and really suffering. Like I said this just seems to work for me. Best of luck--getting in and racing.
