A Turning Point: Next Level Training

For Christmas, Chris got me a gift certificate to Next Level Training. I am completely stoked for this, especially given my current situation. I have never had to take time off like this in the past. So this will help for sure. Here has been my past experience with Next Level Training.

Last year started out pretty on par for me racing and riding wise. I felt strong. Then things started to fall apart—I got sick with a cold that turned into a sinus infection and lingered, had/got to travel for work, etc. Somewhere in all this, I struggled to feel good on my bike. I would start to feel ok and think things were turning around and then I would unravel (again). I lost the joy. It just was not fun. Something had to change.

I got a coach—Dan Nelson.  Chris and I know Dan personally so I knew he was knowledgeable. I also felt like he would provide me with what I needed.  So I gave him a call (it may have been text or email). Anyway, we sat down and mapped out a month or so. We talked through my races and goals. He provided direction and workouts.

The results: Fantastic. I felt like I got control back (ironically). I felt good, normal…better. I used him the next month or so until the season ended. I attribute much of my sucess during the late part of the season to his program. Personally, I think it not only helped physically, but also mentally. I felt more confident. Needless to say, I am looking forward to sitting down with him once I get the go ahead from the doc and planning the start of this season.

If you are looking for a little more (or a lot of) direction or structure,  I would definitely recommend Dan at Next Level Training.
